We Are Not Who We Are
Jun. 10th, 2020 03:46 pmSometimes I amuse myself. I've been sitting here, updating my interests and the last three items in the list read 'yellow, yoga, zombies' so now I have this mental image of... yes, yellow zombies doing yoga. I actually made myself laugh so hard that one of the cats jumped up and ran away. Then I made myself cough, short of breath and need my inhaler which was a lot less hilarious. I also can't help but think yellowyogazombies would be an awesome username. If I wasn't quite taken with
chroniclesofdylan I might even look into changing it!
Mind you, having said that, I'm thinking of taking out the colours because it seems strange having favourite colours listed under interests...after all, a colour isn't exactly an interest, is it?
I had a good nights sleep last night, didn't wake myself up coughing for the first time in over a week so I feel much more rested today. I even had the energy to have a shower, and it's amazing how much more human standing under a hot cascade of water can make you feel. I've got an annoying knot under my my right shoulder and down around my ribs. I'm guessing muscle tightness from all the coughing. But of course, I can't get a massage to ease it. First world problems.
Today is much the same as yesterday - tucked up on the couch under blankets, reading and watching The X-Files, including one of my favourite episodes: Ice. And that always makes me want to watch The Thing, so that's going to get added to my list.
I've noticed that people are posting What I'm Reading Wednesday and I do love talking about the books I'm reading. And they are:
An Introduction to Criminological Theory by Roger Hopkins Burke - an ebook on loan from the library. I'm getting a new interest in criminology and criminal psychology (as you do) and this book gives introductions to various different criminological theories (oddly enough). It's not an easy read, I'm only two chapters in but so far it's fascinating. The first section of the book is about 'The rational actor model of crime and criminal behaviour' and I'm reading about Classical criminology.
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong - an old favourite, very dog-eared paperback. A bit of a comfort read in these unsettling times. Elena Michaels didn't know that her lover Clay was a werewolf until he bit her, changing her life forever. Betrayed and furious, she cannot accept her transformation, and wants nothing to do with her Pack - a charismatic group of fellow werewolves who say they want to help. When a series of brutal murders threatens the Pack, Elena is forced to make an impossible choice. Abandon the only people who truly understand her new nature, or help them to save the lover who ruined her life, and who still wants her back at any cost
Other than that, I've been messing about online and exploring Dreamwidth. I really do quite enjoy the communication and social aspects of blogging - connecting with people, finding communities of like-minded people. I'm enjoying the creative aspect of writing, of finding my voice and what I want to say, brainstorm ideas for posts and having conversations with people. I'm finding most people don't mind me randomly wandering in, saying hi, commenting and sparking up a chat. It's great, almost like walking around the village and chatting with people, finding out about their day, sharing information about what's going on. And I get to interact with people I wouldn't normally, which obviously helps enrich my life as well. What's not to love?
